Bleach Baths Clear Persistent Eczema

By

Sufferers of eczema know personally how difficult it is to keep their skin clear. There is no cure for eczema but there are effective treatments for the symptoms. Creams and ointments can help soothe skin rashes but quickly evaporate or wipe off. Research has shown that one of the most effective methods of clearing eczema is to add half a cup of bleach to the eczema sufferer’s bath water.

The idea of soaking in a tub of diluted bleach typically raises eyebrows, but it is much gentler than it sounds. Eczema can be unbearably itchy, which can cause those who suffer from it to literally scratch their skin until it bleeds. This is the culprit to many skin infections, but luckily this can be easily cured by taking a bleach bath. Dermatologists have highly praised the treatment, “Dermatologist Cheryl Lee Eberting, MD, who practices in Alpine, Utah, is a big believer in bleach baths.”

Bleach is effective in the killing of these harmful infections. An added benefit is the fact that diluted bleach can even cure infections that are resistant to antibiotics, including Staph.“Pediatric dermatologist Amy Paller, MD, tells WebMD that about 90% of people with eczema have staph on their skin, compared to about 25% of the population at large.” Resistant Staph bacteria have been becoming a common problem for the population with eczema and should not be ignored.

Bleach baths also reduce the amount of itching and scaling brought on by eczema. A little know fact is that the bacteria on the skin are what cause the intense itching of the skin. Combining bleach baths with lotions, creams, and ointments can not only clear persistent eczema but keep it from coming back.

Even those who do not suffer from eczema can benefit from occasional bleach baths. Staph bacteria outbreaks are common in locker rooms and gyms. The disinfecting properties of the bleach can cure ringworm, athlete’s foot, and clean open wounds. The effects of this treatment are promising and remarkable. It is only a fraction of the cost of antibiotics it has the same potency and the potential to save lives.
