Use Kool-Aid as a Temporary Hair Dye!
By AshleyRB
Changing ones hair color has become just as common as changing ones clothes. While it can be fun to change the look of your hair, chemical dyes can be very damaging to your hair. A great way to color your hair temporarily minus the commitment is to use Kool-Aid!
The process is very simple, just pick up a few packs of the unsweetened drink mix and combine it with the conditioner of your choice. Make sure you use the unsweetened Kool-Aid because the sweetened packs will leave your hair sticky. Before you start coloring your hair shampoo it a couple of times. This makes certain your hair is cleansed of all hair products and oils. Shampoo tends to be drying to the hair and the drier your hair is the better it will absorb the dye.
Once you have the ingredients mixed you let it sit on your hair for a couple of hours. You will need to prevent the dye from coloring your neck, ears, and forehead. Rubbing some Vaseline on these spots prior to coloring will prevent this. To minimize dripping and keep your hair wet wrap it up with saran wrap and a shower cap. Then rinse the concoction out of your hair until the water runs clear. Do not shampoo your hair immediately afterwards because this will cause the color to fade faster.
The color will stay in your hair for a month or two depending on how often you wash your hair. One thing to remember is that every time you wash your hair or put products on your hair the dye may run.
The results will vary depending on the state of your hair and your natural hair color. The dye will show up the best if your hair has been bleached prior to coloring or if you have blond hair. On darker hair colors the color will be very subtle, but in sunlight it will be the most noticeable.
After you have completed this process, you will have a vibrant new hair color with the added benefit of deep conditioned hair!

I did this in high school. I didn't know how to do it, I had just heard other people doing it. So my hair did turn red, but I had to go to school with red streaks down my face for days!
